Toolbox

This toolbox uses hierarchy as a deign principle. Each compartment is meant to hold more private objects than the compartment above.

Curtain

I carved a tiling pattern for this curtain. I wanted the curtain to feel airy, natural and bright.

Advertisement Typology

By photoshopping out products and copy from advertisements showing women's bodies, a typology emerges. It illustrates the use of the female body as a proxy for selling unrelated products—implying that the woman is sold and obtained through the sale of these products.

Pens

Most pens are designed for writing, but I designed a pen for what I do with it when I'm not writing. I wanted a pen that I could display in my room on a hook next to my desk, and would be fun to spin on my finger when I'm concentrating on my work. These two factors led me to the loop design, in combination with other design elements from my favorite pens.

Alarm Clock

I rescued the guts of a Goodwill alarm clock to make a more stylish version and learn how the electronic components work.

Sewing

I'm a self-taught sewist, making home goods and clothing when I need them. I up-cycle fabrics that would've ended up in the trash.

Collages

I turned magazines and catalogs into collages that each represent a different idea, e.g., "Ferocious", "Colorful Death" etc.

Safety Sign

While working on a ropes course, I noticed that the participants' harnesses were often tightened incorrectly which risks their safety. Instructing exclusively with words causes these misunderstandings. I painted this sign to show the proper placement above the hips and order to tighten the straps. With this sign, participants were more likely to understand where the harness should be relative to their body.
